Santa Cruz

Porcelain

the bathroom door
was unlocked

you smiled,
poised on
porcelain

I stumbled in
shutting
the door

grace
was the curve
of your
thigh

on a Santa Cruz
evening
in January

Wonderful

It’s another night. Here I am.

We slip into
comfort and coffee

Cherry laughter sounds
our tone as we
shower inside
kiddie pool
plastic bath

We topsy turvy are

Dinner is breakfast,
chocolate dinner
Life is gold tones, the
gleam in our eyes is
serotonin

Dressed up in
plaid and ballgowns we
shake and boogie,
mixed up in
funk and soft sounds

All is simple good

Love is all we have to say

beleaguered by bugs

insects alight on
shoulder blades
                   neck
                           thighs

urgent message
frantic buzz

so eager
into
eardrums
sacred
space

gold green grey flock to me

gleam when I
compliment
their shells

Insect Queen among flowers

pride

we
eat breakfast in
panties
and skin

skip
class

bang our
heads
on the
ceiling

fuck like
lions

what else
is
there?
